Black History Month Reading List

Updated: Feb 5, 2021

This year, I wanted to do something special for Black History month. This past year there were protests that sparked the nation after the death of George Floyd. The trending, #sayhername emerged after the death of Breonna Taylor. Unfortunately, there were many others who died at the hands of police officers. It is important that their stories are heard and that we asa society recognize the injustices that are still prevalent today.

I created a book list for the month of February to honor Black voices. All the material provided can also be used to educate ourselves on racial injustices that occurred in the past and also the present. I will have a discussion forum opened during this month to discuss the literature provided and what Black History Month means to us.
